Thailand Travelogue: Channeled Swimming Pool at the Siam Kempinski Hotel and Deconstructed Banana Cake at Sra Bua by Kiin Kiin

Earlier this year the Tourism Authority of Thailand invited me to come visit the country and create our first ever Asian guide for GayCities. The phenomenal travel connoisseur Carlos Melia took me, YouTuber Davey Wavey and colleagues from Pink Triangle Press, Passport magazine and dot429 around Bangkok, Chiang Mai and the Golden Triangle region showing us the shiniest gems Thailand has to offer. The following travelogue retraces even more highlights from my fourth day there.

Siam Kempinski Hotel

After a quick shower we went to the Siam Kempinski hotel which ended up being one of the favorite properties that we toured during the trip. The lobby feels grandiose but not one bit stuffy. I was a big fan of the way the amber-colored light reflected on the tile, giving the Siam Kempinski a pristine and elegant look.

The hotel was just as surreal outdoors as it was indoors. Never had I seen a pool like the Siam Kempinski’s swimming channel that spread across all over the patio.

Sra Bua by Kiin Kiin

For dinner we stuck around to try out the new onsite restaurant at the Kempinski, Sra Bua, specializing in molecular gastronomy and deconstructed Thai dishes. Sra Bua, sister restaurant to famed Kiin Kiin in Copenhagen, serves an eleven-course tasting menu starting at about $75.
