Last Labor Day, Denys, Jerome, Eric and I escaped to Mexico. The boys found a great deal on Zozi.com for a six-night stay at the relaxing and remote Cerritos Surf Colony, off the Pacific coast and an hour north of the main travel hub of Los Cabos.
The view from our villa first thing in the morning.
The recently-remodeled hacienda off to the distance was also a part of the colony. The bar, the gym and the pool all available to guests by a short walk through the beach.
The row of colorful beachfront villas.
The colony’s pool.
Even during stormy weather, the view weren’t that bad ;P
Don’t get it twisted: Jerome and Eric came here to relax.
The colony was popular with local surfers and beach bum travelers from all over the world.
The main entrance to the hacienda.
Open-air living room.
Traditional Mexican furniture.
The hacienda’s quaint courtyard, complete with fountain and palm trees.
Living room looks out to the pool and bar hut.
The hacienda was like straight from a telenovela set, where the drug lord villain lives.
Speaking of Mexican drug lords, here I am inhaling my electric pipe.
Cerritos Surf Colony as the sun sets.
Denys, the only boy in the world.
Although off the beaten path, the colony was still close enough to drive to Cabo San Lucas and all its touristy offerings.
Here you get seated and served at the Baskin Robbins…
Teaching kids how to save the environment by feeding trash to the dolphins.
We rented ATVs and four-wheeled in the pristine Playa Migriño.
Then Denys the Cavalier tried riding two horses at once.
Turtle egg-laying season.
We also took a rocky boat ride to the scenic Playa del Amor (Lover’s Beach – hai!)
Badass.
We spotted two mermaids making their way to the beach.
I tried to kill Denys.
jk…
Lover’s Beach photoshoot.
Denys running for his life.
The crashing waves bring the sultry in me, though.
Finally, we drove to the neighboring city of San Jose del Cabo to check out their famed art district.
Watch the video of our vacation.
