Earlier this year the Tourism Authority of Thailand invited me to come visit the country and create our first ever Asian guide for GayCities. The phenomenal travel connoisseur Carlos Melia took me, YouTuber Davey Wavey and colleagues from Pink Triangle Press, Passport magazine and dot429 around Bangkok, Chiang Mai and the Golden Triangle region showing us the shiniest gems Thailand has to offer. The following travelogue retraces highlights from my sixth day there.
Mandarin Oriental in Chiang Mai
The palace-like Mandarin Oriental offers guests several distinct options when it comes to accommodations. Pictured above is the garden area which is serves as the communal backyard for all the Colonial suites.
The brick villas are a short golf cart ride from the main lobby. These villas come with either one or two bedrooms, a pool and/or top-floor patio jacuzzi.
The pool overlooking the rice fields. Similar to the ones located at the Four Seasons Chiang Mai, these fields provide a portion of the rice used in the resort’s onsite restaurants and other dining services.
The opulent entrance to the champagne bar.
The champagne bar is the perfect spot to relax after an active day and bask in the waning sun.
The moon caught between two stars.
The Mandarin Oriental also has 60 acres of landscaped gardens that they rent out for weddings and other special occasions.
How can you have a lavish celebration in Thailand without an elephant?
